Best Seasons in Peru: Highlands and Coast Keep Different Calendars

Best Seasons in Peru: Highlands and Coast Keep Different Calendars

Peru does not promise one perfect month. In the Andean highlands, May–September is generally drier; Machu Picchu trails feel more predictable while crowds and prices rise. Shoulder months (April, October) offer softer light and a little more breathing room.

On the coast, winter brings garúa mist; Lima can look gray while the food scene stays open year-round. In the Amazon, river levels shift with rain patterns—choose lodges accordingly.

Do not force two climates into one suitcase; splitting the route is wiser. Season is about tempo more than Instagram.
